this will make alot of people in my knitting circle VERY HAPPY

I present to you my FINISHED cardigan. Yes i did just say FINISHED. (well it’s not blocked but it’s cotton) so it’s not going to make THAT much difference if i show you now or later.  but here it is. it has been sitting in a target bag for ALMOST a year. it was all finished except for making a button band and trimming it. My problem thisis the frist sweater i EVER made and i was just told, well jennifer to finish it crochet your trim and chain for your button and was sent on my way. even tho i have no idea how to crochet trim or put a button on.  so i tried but they told me to use a bigger crochet hook than i should have and it was just too bumpy and bunched everytime i tried. i so i left it there. Until Wednesday. Lesa so slowly showed me how to do it and which way to follow along my sweater. And to use a smaller hook. well last nite during ER look what i finished!

close up of trim and where button will go after blocking

my first cardigan
Manos de Uraguay Cotton in celery green
Trim: manos cotton in orange
Pattern THERE WASN’T ONE! it was knit from a schemeatic or a drawing.
you take gauge and some measurements and voila you can make a whole sweater this way. I took a class for this thru Sheep’s Clothing.

THANK YOU GUYS FOR ALL YOUR SUPPORT! I WILL WEAR IT MONDAY!

as promised here’s some knitting related photos:

a scarf for a really good family friend.

Mrs. Foster’s Scarf
1 ball lion brand Trellis
1 ball matrix by bernat
knit with 2 size 15 dpns
you knit it and slide the scarf thus making it look like you held two yarns together but you didn’t. this is a fancy way of making an expensive looking scarf for cheap since you only need one ball of each yarn. pattern from sheep’s clothing.

my first pair of successful socks
2 balls sassy stripes
size 3 dpn’s
pattern from not just socks

joy’s Hermoine (sp?) hat
i’m 1/2 way done
cascade 220 in ruby
pattern from atypical knits $5
knit on size 6 circs

felted clogs
lopi in periwinkle and purple
felts VERY HAIRY, but awsome
i forgot the name of the pattern and what needles i used

discloth blitz 2k5
what would mother’s day be without dishcloths for nat’s mom & gramma and my mom here’s only 3 of currently 8.

here’s the pink bakelite needles i got from sit n’ knit
a portion of the price went to breast cancer

here are two more pairs of bakelite needles from sit and knit i just bought this stuff recently
ORANGE!!!! (my favorite color) needles and baby blue needles
also really soft alpaca which will become the ballett wrap in hollywood knits.

and here’s two more pictures because i just found them on my camera which has been dead for quite some time they are nephew content so if you don’t like cute little kids look away quick!

zander loves to put on my hello kittly slippers and my shoes and schlep around the house. i taught him to say MEOW when he sees hello kitty.

will you pose for me?

Comments (0)

i joined Erin’s (see links) knit-a-long for the rockstar pattern from the stitch and bitch book. Well i want to knit a Morrissey and a rockstar nat. So here is a little bit of a conversation that just took place:

jen: will you pose for me this weekend? you have to stand there like you are playing your guitar
nat: why
jen:i have to make my rockstar nat doll
nat: oh…maaaaybeee… i should be sleeping or something, not playing guitar haha
jen:well anyways YOU HAVE TO POSE LIKE THE ROCKSTAR THAT YOU ARE
SO I CAN KNIT A ROCKSTAR NAT DOLL SO I CAN DO VOO-DOO ON YOU
(hoping he didn’t notice the last part)
nat: but i don’t look like a rockstar, i just stand there…NO VOODOO
jen: well then pose like the bump on a log holding a guitar that you are, i could stick pins in your head
nat: NO VOODOO
jen: why not?
nat: because i said so
jen: what fun is that?
nat:that is fun YAY! NO VOODOO! YAY FUN! !!!!! see?
jen: doesn’t LOOK like fun to me
nat:  but it IS YAY!!! NO VOODOO!!!! YAY!!! !!!!!!! that looks like fun you can tell by all the !!!!!!!!!s FUN!!!!!!
jen: don’t you HATE fun
nat: um… not when it is NO VOODOO ON THE NAT DOLL!!!! YAY!!!!!! that fun is ok
jen: you are being funny
nat: not me

i don’t know if anyone out there listen’s to George Nory/Art Bell. I have been an on again off again listener for years. Last nite George had MR WIZARD on.  He spoke of one of his favroite episodes all about ADHESIVES.

i am working on getting some knitting done, perhaps while Zander takes his nap tomorrow.  right now i fetched some off my sister and my mom’s cameras.
***special note for Cara note the use of cardigans in the following photographs!
here are my two favorite guys in the world zander and nathaniel

bye bye billboard

Comments (2)

sadly the pepsi one billboard was gone, with a rather boring pepsi one ad in it’s place. i’m sure it’s just a matter of time before it gets spiced up a bit by some hoodlums or something. that makes me imagine a band of hoodlums running around thinking hmmm this could use a little humor let’s spice it up a bit!

ok i am trying to figure out how to add crap to my templates and using this here movable type to upload the pictures and not manually doing them by ftp to my server and stuff. this kind of makes me wish i still had some simpler blog thing like blogger back (not). Anyways i am going to mess around with this stuff tonight and see if i can finally add a bunch-o-links to all the people i read daily/weekly.  i also am trying to figure out the knitting gallery. this was originally set up by nat (a.k.a. HTML/coding whiz) and i just typed stuff in and pasted where he told me to paste. so i know it’s all like 2 years old and i am trying to figure it all out to update it i promise.  i will also add one of those little pages of crap about myself. ugh.

i also signed up for the rockstar along. i will also try to figure out how to add that button when i am accepted. i am thinking of doing a Morrissey and a “rockstar” nat doll.  the nat doll will take alot of imagination since i have never in our 2.5 year relationship ever seen nat play the 5 guitars he has laying around his apt.  i did once witness him play the banjo, when i was looking to buy him one last fall. (he did not get said banjo simply because he won’t promise to play it for me..for more than one occassion)

i told nat this weekend that candy is the way to my heart.  he wasn’t paying attention.  altho my heart can be swayed by a coke with lime too.

2 weeks and running

Comments (0)

i can’t believe this remained up on Lincoln ave near nat’s apt for 2 weeks in a row. it’s near the ashland intersection and for some reason these billboards almost always get tagged or graffitti on them. but usually it’s removed right away.
so i present to you “mmmmm cancer”

bordom

well with everyone in Las Vegas and no zander to watch i’ve been bored inbetween sending out resumes. so i am toying with selling some of these.

i’ve also figured out how to make beaded ones and i’m sending a bunch out as thank gifts to various friends who have mailed me mp3’s and stuff.

if anyone who reads this is intrested in any scrabble tile stitch markers let me know, you can pass a little fundage to the un-employed designer.

Can you tell me how to get

Comments (1)

how to get to sesame street?
here is something new i just learned about my boyfriend.
nat:i realized a few years ago that the reason i have always wanted to live in the city, and that i have been dissatisfied with every city i have lived in, is because i have always wanted to live at 123 sesame street. i still do

ok so sesame street turns 35 this year. Thank god something is three years older than me. Especially since Hello Kitty is 2 years younger than me.

so anyways i was fondly thinking of my favorite sesame street moments all afternoon:

i am a huge fan of Slimey the worm. I love when he sported a scarf for the winter games. A friend informed me that tony bennett came on and sang Slimey to the moon, i am really upset i missed this.

oscar did have grouchkateers, and they had some sort of song.

the number snippet that goes 12345…678910….ELEVEN TWELVE
i still sing that

the little kid who had to remember a grocery list and kept saying a stick of buttah

the skit where ernie is sculpting bert and runs out of clay for his nose, so he steals bert’s nose and sticks it on the bust of bert.

and my most favorite of all…. the skit of this is your life w/guy smiley..but the guest was LOAF OF BREAD. so it was THIS IS YOUR LIFE LOAF OF BREAD! as announced by kermit, that loaf of bread was my favorite puppet of all.

sesame street and the muppets were just plain GENIUS.

nat: a loaf of bread, a container of milk. a stick of butter
jen: THAT"S IT! how did you remember that?
nat: i remember that whenever i need one of those things from teh store though
jen: HAHAHA

and here is just ONE of the million reasons why i love him:
nat sings the ladybug picnic song.
123 456 789 10 11 12 ladybugs came to the lady bug picknic
they talked about the high price of furniture and rugs
and fire insurance for lady bugs
the ladybugs 12 at the ladybug picnic
they played jumprope till the rope it broke
so they sat around the fire telling knock knock jokes
the ladybugs 12 at the ladybug picnic

why do i date you again?

Comments (2)

my friend Erin is having a contest, and a knit along. She is doing the knit your own rockstar along, and she is also having a contest go here to check it out:
erin’s blog

i entered nat in her contest on ideas for nate’s guitar strap because of this conversation:

nat:it should have monkeys on it… but she should be prepared for it to stretch a lot when he puts it on his guitar, so she shouldn’t make it too long
Jen: i think i’ll enter you and say it should have monkeys on it
Nat: why don’t you enter YOU since it is a contest to win yarn?
Nat:what makes you think i will share if i win it? maybe i will keep it all for myself and use it to tie things together
Jen:you are bound to win with that kind of comment!
Nat: hah NO YARN FOR YOU!
Jen:but you can tie stuff up
Nat: yes
Jen:now WHAT exactly are you going to tie up?
Nat: tiny packages?
Jen then shows nat some scrabble stitch markers and tells him HE could buy her some of those…
nat: maybe i should buy some for MYSELF for all of the yarn i am going to win
jen:did you go to her stash page to pick it out yet?
nat:she doesn’t have any brown..maybe i will choose needles so i can poke things (you)
jen: oh lord

goodbye loveline

Comments (3)

ok i suppsoe this will only make sense for local people. but a radio station here has recently changed it’s programming. they should have just EASED into this because at times it’s startling what they will play, when all you were used to hearing was the same 25 songs all the time everyday.  nat and i heard Q101 play FUGAZI’s Waiting Room, no joke last friday at like 10pm. Then the played the English Beat. Very strange. Especially for Commercial radio, not college radio.
Anyways, they apparently did away with Loveline. I listened to this just about every weekday nite for about 4 years or so. I also listen to it on sunday nites when i drive back from nat’s. I can’t find where it’s possibly moving to…or if it’s been picked up by anyone else in the chicago area. ugh. i’m sad. No more Germany or Florida. No more guess when the accordian plays on the ranchero music. No more lightning round. No more fake callers. No more ranting and raving from adam.  i miss you guys making me laugh.  Stupid Q101. Altho i do like this new format.

please note

Comments (1)

this would be the list nathaniel made this weekend. after he made this list this is what he told me:

nat: PLEASE NOTE…
jen: what am i noting?
nat: THERE IS *NO* CANDY WRITTEN ON THE LIST

i was pretty bummed until i was in Target and grabbed the list to make sure we got everything we needed until i LOOKED at the list and saw MONKEY written on it. and it was positioned inbetween the stuff we needed from target and petsmart. apparently nat said he didn’t know who would have the monkey. OK so let’s see….monkeys….candy…..monkeys…..CANDY. how the hell does monkey win? but look people when i say he’s obsessed with monkeys he really is he even writes it on our lists.  He also is obsessed with the pope. But that was before the man died. Nat seems to think the pope needs “special” shoes. and these said shoes should be white and have platforms (cause he’s short) and have curly toes that would be gold. um ok. he also believed the pope was dead already and he was propped up like weekend at bernies, but that’s another story alltogether.

update:since i have written this these two convesations have occured.
nat: MONKEYS ALWAYS BEAT CANDY
nat: did you see the pictures of the pope’s body?
jen: yes
nat: he has all that fancy stuff and PLAIN BROWN SHOES!
nat: if i were pope, the first thing i would do is make them get me some decent shoes
nat: I’M THE FUCKING POPE; GET ME SOME BETTER LOOKING SHOES!
jen: well maybe he wanted BROWN SHOES
nat: why would he want brown shoes when he can have whatever kind of shoes he wanted
nat: he could have curly pointy toed gold embroidered platform boots
jen: remind me again why i still date you?

and when my friend asked me if i could listen to some track on a record and translate any of the spanish this is what happened when i asked nat if he could play it on his computer.

nat: but i have no idea what she is saying
nat: i don’t really know spanish
nat: just sesame street spanish
nat: unless they are saying DANGER! EXIT! SPANISH SPOKEN HERE! and counting, i am useless
nat: SENSASIONALISSIMO!
nat: i know spanish channel gameshow spanish too
jen: since you know game show spanish and sesame street spanish…
those qualify as skills, cause every boy has to have skills… You know, like nunchuck skills, bowhunting skills, computer hacking skills… Girls only want boyfriends who have great skills.
