happy halloween everyone
♥ Comments (8) ♥

i was driving to my sister’s house at 11:15pm tonight and she lives in a pretty residential neighborhood. i thought a large dog was trying to walk out in the misddle of the road and it turned out to be a large doe. i stopped and it looked at me and ran. i was in the sewing room with my sister and just as i was getting ready to tell her, we heard a horn. There was a firetuck, ambulance and 4 police cars about 4 houses down from her. Turns out a guy hit a light pole and flipped his truck several times. he landed in her neighbor’s fron yard. He had to be cut out with the JAWS OF LIFE! we saw them use the JAWS OF LIFE! but they had to wait til the live wire that the truck was laying on was taken care of. i wonder if he saw the deer?
anyways…don’t eat too much candy..i know i will..

i forgot to show y’all
♥ Comments (13) ♥
well i am running my little contest. the be-my-500th-comment-win a prize contest.
ya’ll know i’ve said i’ve been crocheting a billion kitty parts, yet i don’t have one assembled. since i’m offering one up as a prize i supposed i should show you what they look like. so i am going to show off two people’s kitties because i know they won’t mind me doing so.
first up is M’Orange
and here’s Matcha
also if you click on match’as link you can see her guest appearing on amy’s blog today.
So now y’all know what they look like. if i ever get the assembly line done you can see them all together. time for me to get back to crocheting.
thanks again to erin and amy for letting me borrow pictures of M’orange and Matcha to show.

♥ Comments (5) ♥
Thanks to all of you who filled out the little link. if you haven’t i swear i won’t bother you with a billion emails. it’s just so i can say hi the store is ready and tell you when it gets updated. i promise. for those of you who didn’t fill it out fill this out so we can tell you when our store opens!
no, for those who want to know, i haven’t reached my 500th comment yet. and of course i’m keeping up with my spam deletion. I am making a japanese kitty for the 500th person and they will also get a special limited edition Russel the monkey button from the cd swap button. And i do mean one inch button. i will take a picture of it all once the kitty is done.
i skipped self portrait tuesday this week, sorry. I am dog sitting while family is in Vegas and nat took some vacation days. just wasn’t into this week. BUT..i do have pictures for everyone. Not only was nat in town, but so was a member of our group who moved to California for school. KRISTEN! Here she is cursing a hat pattern worn by what’s her face in Elizabethtown. No one matters in that movie except for OOOOOOH LA LA ORLANDO BLOOM AND HIS EYEBROWS.
speaking of cute boys here’s nat trying to ignore the fact that he is with a group of 4 girls knitting
here’s Erin doing some sort of ninja move when i took the picture
next is Lesa finishing her “big ass blue sweater”
and a group shot, myself included
i did tell y’all i’m making nothing but kitty parts right? here’s the proof
the winner of my 500th contest will win the strawberry colored one.
here’s some Sweet Mary Janes erin was knitting up buy the pattern on the link it’s only 5$
i also made everyone some one inch buttons thanks to nat and his new one inch button maker
also i’m glad to see that smiling dogs make a lot of you happy too. i need to try to get one when Nat’s cat Simon smiles. he does if you get one of his “good spots”..anyone else brave try a Kumbucha wonder drink? i still want to know if you drank one and survived!

when dogs smile
♥ Comments (9) ♥
ok i am happy i get to work tomorrow so today is like friday.
first if you are getting paid tomorrow go to Erin’s site and buy her little mary jane slipper pattern. i’m going to be casting on a few pair of these next week.
second isn’t it just awsome when dogs smile? here’s lucy semi’ smiling her jowls kind of mask it
the neighbors across the street got a puppy at the beg of october meet a smiling sammy
on to knitting news..i finished one of the two one skein wonders but lack the energy to photograph it.
here’s the second scarf for the trunk show
here’s a close up of the three yarns that were held together
and after admiring the perfect pie shawl from weekend knitting for a year
erin convinced me to cast on for this thing
in other kntting news i am making kitties, millions and millions of kitties. well it seems like millions cause there’s 11 parts to each kitty and i am making 4 at once..i had a picture of the assembly line but it got lost in the transfer..sorry.
nat got a button maker and i am sure he is planning on having an EMPIRE OF ONE INCH BUTTONS. so i shared buttons with erin that i had doubles of (thanks to kat) and a button from rachel’s cute things store…as a thank you for this awsome thank you sock yarn she gifted me
so that’s all for now. back to the kitty assembly line…
and number 500 is coming up..keep at it. i am still going to give a prize. i’m thinking it will be a kitty, since i’m making so many of them at once!

just a few things…
♥ Comments (14) ♥
I have now handed over what appears to be the FINAL VERSION of the SLIPPER MARY JANES PDF to Erin
She now has the pattern for a meager 5$ on her site. Please go support this wonderful pattern and make some for xmas. You can purchase it on her sidebar.
And just to let y’all know i didn’t use that horrible picture of my feet on it. there’s some nicer photographs on the actual PDF. Thanks to my mom who agreed to model them for us one night. So go support a knitter and get this simple yet really functional pattern.
I am not sure I believe Rachel who in my comments claims she drank a WHOLE bottle of the Kombucha wonder drink (without dying) !! but i’ll take her word for it that it was awful enough to never drink one again.
there are two things coming up and i wanted to let my dear readers, yes Y’ALL in on it. First, my comments are approaching close to 500. (i’m not telling you how many it’s at now, but it’s not far off) so the person who is my 500th comment will get a special prize. I am not sure what said prize is because i just thought of this, but trust me it will be cool. Second, my anniversary for starting this little space here is coming up in November. I was thinking about doing a little something for y’all in november to commerate my bloggidty blog-a-versary. Again the prize or prizes will be something cool but limited edition. I’m working on figuring out what i want to do.
UPDATED:
um no this is not a ploy to get a whole bunch of comments. it’s to give y’all some incentive to come out of hiding to comment. perhaps you will be the 500th? hmmm i don’t know? i know i usually stalk someone’s blog for a month or so before i comment. but still. WHO WILL WIN?
UM NO YOU WILL NOT AND I REPEAT WILL NOT WIN A KOMBUCHA WONDER DRINK, OR EVEN A CASE OF IT. THE PRIZE WILL BE MORE FUN THAN THAT. I PROMISE.
and last, i didn’t know fresca was a diet drink. weird. usually i don’t drink diet drinks, but i like fresca! and orangina too…i wonder if that will make a come back?
for anyone asking, the store is going to be up very very shortly. my sister and i need to sort them and take pictures. The store (thanks to nat) is basically done and the shopping cart works out quite nicely. i’m not making it very fancy, it’s clean like my blog. easy to read, easy to order what you like. i’m thinking it will be debuting in about 2 weeks time or less. just in time for any christmas shopping you have to do for your friends and family.
in the mean time go to erin’s blog and buy the SWEET MARY JANES PATTERN!

if it smells bad….
♥ Comments (4) ♥
ok there’s always been a rule in our house….
if it smells bad it will most likely taste bad so don’t eat it or drink it.
if you say how old is this milk, my mom would say smell it? does it smell funny?
this weekend nat and i went into Whole foods to figure out dinner on saturday. While browsing the drink asile we found some intresting things to try.
this was one of nat’s:
it’s some wonder drink stuff boasting to have natural caffeine or something.
nat opened this sunday and only took a small drink. And then started to persuade me to drink it. he’d had it open for about 10 min and only drank a tiny amount, i knew something was up. I smelled it. Good god it was the wrost smelling stuff ever. Nat thought it would then be FUNNY for some unknown reason for me to drink it. He claims it’s funny if i go eeeeew and make a face. So just for the boy’s entertainment i took a small swig. It was the most vile stuff on the planet. and if ANY of you have ever finished a bottle of that (it’s a small bottle too) i want to know.
UPDATE: nat just checked out the kombucha wonder drink website
Nat: That kombucha stuff is from mushrooms
Jen: EEEEEEEEEEEW YOU JUST MADE ME DRINK FUNGUS!!!! GROSS!
Nat: yes!
there’s only one good thing about it, the design of the bottle and the design ON the bottle. period. avoid this stuff at all costs. blech.
on another note..Fresca is back. It’s been redesigned and has a few new flavors.
i tried black cherry the other day, pretty ok. but i do like normal fresca best. Makes me feel like i’m livin’ in 1994 again.

a question for all you knitters
♥ Comments (7) ♥
i keep looking for a shirt that has something to do with knitting THAT I LIKE. i can’t seem to find one that i like. besides my knitter’s against bush shirt. Knitiot has some okay shirts but GOT YARN? that’s so 1999 and the only thing close is the cafepress knitty store…but i don’t want a shirt that advertises knitty. i just want one that says PURL in black preferably in futura on a white soft american appearal shirt or something of the like.
i am thinking about silk screening my own shirts, my question to you is…what are you looking for? do you really like the weird pictures of sheep knitting? i just want an idea of what other people would like too. plus it gives me ideas. Also i know alot of you awho read aren’t knitter’s but do you have any ideas?
also go to fotoboy’s bloggidty blog and look at his pictures. he’s been doing alot of phoos of commuting and i liked alot of them i stumbled on last nite. i couldn’t stop looking at the gallery. there are some nice moments in there.

horseys, campfires, hay, and pumpkin patches
♥ Comments (0) ♥
hi there. did everyone have a super swell weekend? i hope you did. i am in the mood to type out HTML today (links) AND show some photos. sorry about that on friday.
first off thanks to the well wishes for the freelancing. what i need is for everyone to cross your fingers so they are overloaded with work. This place was quite intresting and even tho it was lowley production work, it was quite fun..fun cause it’s busy work and the people are intresting and the place is intresting. soooo please hope to the work gods for me that they get work that needs production. i like clipping paths! i like PDF’s…i like that thousand dollar chair i got to sit in and that 30 inch monitor it got to look at on that brand new g5.
Next up. Ya’ll have to get your selves on over to Rachel’s new little shop. And order up some cute stuff. All handmade and all super cute. I got my package this weekend and when my camera’s done charging folks i’ll show you tomorrow after Self Portrait Tuesday my cute little stuff i got from her. And the post cards i’ve received from the post card swap over at her site.
now this weekend nat and i were invited to go to the Southlake Stables with friend’s of the family for a campfire/pumpkin patch/hayride type thing. I’ve never picked a pumpkin from a patch before.
zander wondering just WHICH pumpkin to get
uncle nat took zander on a pony ride (hello over exposure hello bright sunshine)
THEN…oh then we got the opportunity to go horse back riding for 30 min.
oh yes. here’s myself and my sister’s boyfriend Adam (my horse’s name is Maria and Adam’s is Gorilla)
and my sister wendy and nathaniel on Mr. horse and Casper
the best moments were when nat’s horse would stop it would bend down and eat grass every single time. Wendy’s horse never wanted to stay on the trail and
even tho it was very much fun my butt hurts today.
Nat had never been on a hayride, or even roasted hot dogs/smore over a fire, so this was a fun day. I’ve got a few more photos but i think they will be used in my SPT series for tomorrow. It’s time to go to wendy’s to craft and sew some more pouches. Yes we should have the store up and online in a week or so. We are just getting ready for the DIY Trunk Show on november 5th first then we will fill the shop for y’all.

i’m so sorry. just to warn you ahead of time. But…i am behind again and i have good news. I got cd’s from cookie and dave and they look like really good cd’s. i just don’t have pictures up here yet. I got the majority of erin over at my dorky best friend’s mary jane slipper pattern’s pdf and photographs done. I want to thank erin for her lavish thank you gift, she gave me this awsome sock yarn that is lime green and orange and so totally jen it isn’t even funny..but it was too expensive for my measly non-budget. so thank you for the wonderful lavish gift erin…even tho you know you didn’t need to. Thank you to Lesa who knit me an orange beret! out of the new lion brand wool and felted it. it’s so warm and thick and pretty.
Now here’s the good news. I picked up freellance work FINALLY. at an agency. i’m very happy to get some work in. and finally receive some $$. i start tomorrow so i am really nervous. I just have to be careful i don’t ask someone if the have to potty every 30 min. Or start singing the song to ELMO’S WORLD…or any of the songs from Dora. because as y’all know i’ve been watching my 2 yr old nephew 4 days a week for 5 months. and y’all know what it does to you when you hang with a 2 yr old for 10 hrs a day every day for months? haha
god help me.
*also god help us. kiss your civil liberties goodbye, with jesus in the white house are we really living in the 21st century?? and also now we start wars cause god speaks to us?

Self Portrait Tuesday
♥ Comments (8) ♥
This month’s SPT challenge is:
The challenge for October is to do a self documentary series.
Self documentary - document yourself for a moment, for a day, for a week. Document a specific event or an ordinary day. Be honest, be real, be true, try to be a little gritty, do not gloss over, do not only show the pretty images.
Sooooooo after alot of thought, not really my mind is clearest when i drive. So after driving last week i thought i would document the roles i play in a day.

county line apple orchard
♥ Comments (3) ♥
nat took a vacation day on friday, and zander and i convinced him to come out to indiana for the day. we took him to the county line apple orchard for the day.
napoleon dynamite references even show up in the weirdest of places….
one of my favorite pictures of the day
we fed some goats
and found a pumpkin to decorate for nat’s apt. we even found a kitty laying in the sun amongst the pumpkins.
so i hope y’all had a nice weekend too and i will be reading your blogs to cath up as well. i have to work on my self portrait tuesday challenge for tomorrow too.

show and tell (alternatley titled GO HOOSIERS!)
♥ Comments (4) ♥
Did you have a good weekend? I hope you did. Mine was great and i have TWO posts to show you. Yes, two. Why two because i had a case of the crabbies and i was behind on showing you some things and i promised someone i’d name one of the posts show and tell to make her laugh. So we’ll begin by going backwards…sunday Amy was in town…shhh keep it a secret she was on the DL on this trip. We met up for brunch and a quick trip to a yarn shop before her and mark got on their plane to head back to arizona. here we are burning in the october sun waiting for a table. also note she and her husband are PURDUE alumni. I wore my IU shirt just for the occasion since i went to IU, rivals of purdue.
She gave me this little button which is awsome because it is my favorite paul frank character do you know who it is?
it’s clancy the giraffe.
she also sent me some knitpicks for a secret project i am working on for someone, i’m kind of excited to try knitpicks out. i think i am going to like it.
on saturday i didn’t go see the yarn harlot sorry. erin had to cancel (don’t feel bad erin!) so i went to joann’s to use up some cupon’s i had and found this!
on thursday or so i received an awsome package from Joelene over at misocrafty! we did a swap she got a mr horse pouch and some scrabble markers and here’s what she made me…a sock knitting pouch!
the last picture shows a grommet to thread the yarn thru…genius! she also sewed elastic inside to hold your needles. genius! i really like this little pouch alot. thanks so much joelene, and i’m sorry for the late posting of it! my case of crabbies wasn’t supposed to happen. Friday i got my hair cut and my beautician (which is also jimmy my official unofficial brother’s mom) wasn’t intrested in giving me a bee hive. she told me to go buy a wig. yes folks…she told me to go buy a wig. anyone who lives near me want to put my hair in a beehive and then shellac it for me? let me know…
also altho nat and i don’t condone any of you stealing the sign with the squirrel with fangs from target, BUT we will certainly ACCEPT anything you do steal. just to let y’all know that!
