random photo post #9543573945739475934753

Comments (2)

ok here’s just some random photographs of stuff and things around me this week. please enjoy.
First off while playing outside with zander and the neighbor girl...i found a nest had blown or fell out of the tree in the front yard. When i picked it up it weighed at LEAST 3-5 pounds. This tiny little thing was packed and i mean packed. It may have been used over and over again. I showed it to zander and the neighbor kids and we wondered about what birds had lived there.

erin greeted me with FRANKENPOO when i met with her yesterday! isn’t he the greatest? he’s heavy and kind of looks like someone tried to step in him. poor Frankenpoo.

when Kristen was visiting from California she brought us presents! some SUSS needles. They are size 8 and nice and pointy. i like pointy needles. (clovers are not so pointy)

i quickly put these size 8’s to use in my mother’s day dishcloth blitz

i bought these moleskin journals and these pens last weekend at the art store and they are my new favorites

here’s the AWESOME cherry beaded charm i bought off stacey’s etsy shop

and here’s lucy at my feet when i started the warshcloth yesterday her ears itched and she started to roll around on the concrete

have a good weekend!

An open letter to a knit designer

Comments (1)

Dear Famous Knit Pattern Designer who just recently published a book on KNITTED FLOWERS (cough cough),

Why oh why can you bother to knit one thousand pretty flowers, yet you can’t BOTHER to let us know what friggin WEIGHT the yarn is you used in the pattern so i can adjust needle size? i simply do not know some brand of yarn and automatically know if it’s sport weight...or worsted. Who in god’s name did you hire for your finishing and sewing team? Every flower i have attempted has turned out wonky or crooked or NOTHING LIKE THE PHOTOGRAPH. Also where in tarnation did you come up with the numbering of stitches in some of said patterns?
Your book when i first received it was amazing, i dreamed of all the flowers i could make. put them on my bags, put them in my hair...make pins. I could use all these scraps for something pretty! Now your book is just the thorn in my side as nothing has turned out remotley as pretty as in your book. Thanks for the high hopes....i’d like my $24.95 back cause high hopes aren’t exactly pretty flowers.

some link stuffs and things

Comments (2)

yes yes i like the words stuff and the word things...i’m sure you’re over it by now if you actually read my bloggidty blog. first off i will have some pictures up here tomorrow of some randomly cool things. to tie you over i have some cool links.

Alot of people who order from the shop never let me know if they have a blog, which kind of sucks. I am left with every 4 weeks or so googling “piddleloop” which i love by the way cause it always says DID YOU MEAN IDLE LOOP? hahaha anyways i look to see if google brings me to any of you stealthy people who’ve ordered from us and have a cool new blog for me to read. I should make it a part of the registration if i could BLOG ADDRESS PLEASE? hahaha
anyways look at the pretty site that i found today...it would be Caitlyn She’s a bag-a-holic and i somehow stumbled upon a post of hers from march about knitting bags. She posted Green Mountain Knitting Bags and i loved looking at that site. That woman makes some serious carpet bags. I also just love meeting other people who have a bag problem...wait did i say problem? So go look at her pretty socks she just made and her pretty site.

also i have another link for you. why it would be jennifer from knit mama! KNIT! she has an etsy shop !! look look she is one of THOSE PEOPLE. you all know the people i am talking about. She makes cute things. Oh yes. Like amy of amyville cute things. A lot of her cute stuff i’ve seen is in felt. ahhh you sewers of felt..y’all make such cute things. Please go buy something cute of hers before i buy it all.

speaking of cute...check out stacey’s new etsy shop too. i got one of the cherry charms and it’s going to be one of the cool pictures i show you tomorrow.

and last but not least...i found Tawana’s blog by finally emailing her after she’s placed several orders from us. We just had to send her some extra special things for her loyalty. We do that here at piddleloop. We’ve got your back if you are loyal. SO to tie you over til photo day...please enjoy some awesome linkage.

i’m feeling incredibly sluggish today/nite and i saw this over at aimeeeeeeroo’s and thought it could potientially be funny let’s see....

Remember the one where you Google your name and the word needs? Well, this is like that, only you use your name and “looks like”. Here we go!

Jen looks like a little boy
Look like Jennifer Aniston
Look like Jennifer Lopez
Young Jen looks like a cute girl with bad hair and a big nose
Looks like Jen has finally flipped all the way out.
Looks like the majority of audiences are sick of seeing Jen’s face on the screen
Jennifer looks like Katie Couric

and my personal favorite..perhaps because it isn’t in reference to j-lo or jennifer aniston

Jen looks like she’s going to stab you.

jesus who cares about j-lo or jennifer aniston why do i google jennifer and get page after page of those two. boooooooooooooooooooooooring.
but this did crack me up! thanks for a good laugh aimemememememeroo!

Did you know?

Comments (3)

1. My URL is the #1 result on Google for the search phrase “crocheted poo”? Yet i miserably failed at the pattern for the crocheted cute poo. sad face.

2. I’ve signed up for some great swaps on swap bot recently and think you should too.
a. promo swap for people with indie businesses
b. digital photo swap
3. I also signed up for a great sounding swap called the knitter’s tea swap

the spring sale, was an intresting experience. It was some scarey looking people from our little city out looking for nothing but junk. We DID make our table space’s price, AND a little extra...also erin and jill who sold some really pretty jewelry also made a little bit-o-cash. But basically if it didn’t cost a quarter and didn’t come from your basement, and was made in the 70’s it wasn’t leaving your table. I did enjoy speaking to some other crafter’s at the show. A woman who does fleece, jen and her candles, a woman who does rubber stamping, and the breast cancer craft table...who incidently wanted the word BOOBS on their team jersey’s when they walk. I think it’s a brilliant idea.

We’ll be opening up the shop again tomorrow. I have to photograph alot of the new pouches we had made, they are very cute and scream spring. I also have 3 frog bags left if anyone is intrested. (note frog bag appliques are NOT sewn on they are fabric glued)

I think i have also convinced Jill and erin to both put up their jewelry they had left over from the show. It’s quite pretty. I hope they want to get their stuff to me, i think you will like it. I will post pictures tomorrow since i am in the city still tonight.

Anything Goes

Comments (3)

I am closing up the shop tomorrow til sometime next week. If there’s anything you want, I’d suggest getting it now before we sell it this weekend. We’re not doing a real craft show....but we’re doing this thing our city puts on called “Anything Goes” and we have a table. I am sure it will be a city-wide garage sale of sorts...there will also be your candle people...your country craft people...then us! who don’t quite fit in. My sister and i have been gearing up for this for the whole month of april. So if your in NW Indiana and want to stop by..we’ll be at Woodland park in portage starting at 9am.

***Also Erin of the Sweet Mary Jane pattern will be there...you can bring your pattern and ask her to sign it LIKE A ROCKSTAR!
***Also Nat of Moustache Factory will be there you can bring your mustache or talk mustaches!

3. some old books
4.  some old bags
5. some old shoes

Five items you absolutely, positively could never part with in your house?

3. the pixies doolittle cd
4. my dutch 1950’s maple chairs from my aunt

I took some of these pictures last friday and saturday when it was really nice outside, like 70 degrees outside.
My dad’s magnolia tree was in full bloom right before easter...i took a few pictures before the wind blows all the petals tot he ground.

nat only wears chucks, he was very happy when i bought mine

i scooped up some awesome gnome stationery and buttons over at rachel’s site look at how cute he is!

i also stumbled upon Dixie’s etsy shop and HAD TO order some guess what? chicken butt stationery. I say this to nat and he falls for it EVERYTIME. When i saw it i yelled PURE GENIUS! I also had fun emailing with Dixie. She is very cool and i suggest ordering from her. I also see some cute praying mantis and corn cards up there! She even threw in a chicken butt card, i will have to hang it up next tot he hammerpress cards i have. thanks dixie!

i also got these two books from amazon last week.

knitting/crocheting woes

Comments (5)

*** EDITED sorry about complaining about such woes. Don’t you just have those days, weeks, months where everything you try to do just ends up all wrong? It’s like the universe is trying tot ell you something...and it isn’t good.

ok. i HAVE been knitting and crocheting, really. BUT like the world gangs up on me so does the knitting universe too. Latley everything i do and spend time on is all wonky and wrong or i am so confused i cna’t figure it out and get all bummed out.

problem 1. puchitomato’s nina was nice enough to share her POO pattern with me. But when i made it it looks nothing like her picture. hmm. maybe the mistake i found in her pattern wasn’t a mistake with the numbers at all. maybe i am just not meant to crochet cute poo? who knows. anyways i crocheted it twice and didn’t get what’s in the picture, so i give up on that one.

problem 2. i get the cute cute new book by nickey epstein of knitted flowers, and i am absolutley confused and baffled by this rather simple flower pattern that only consists of 6 rows. Yet i cannot understand it for the life of me enough to make one. i am also confused on the size amongst other things. i also tried another easy pattern in there that consisted of only 4 rows. and i did something wrong too. sometimes i think the universe is telling me i cannot make cute things.

aside from that have a happy rabbit day.

and really sorry about the crankypants sort of post, but i am just so frustrated right now.

Gratitude

Comments (4)

Every now and again someone does something so awesome i have no idea how to thank them. This is where i need y’all to give Amy also of Amyville fame, a STANDING OVATION!  A long time ago i asked her if i could one day comission a CAKE bracelet from her. Altho i wasn’t working for a long time i figured one day i could buy it from her.
I did work some and bought some awesome donut and cupcake markers. I think i need to take a picture of them. i forgot. So i do when i have cash to burn throw some y’alls way. But she did the most amazing thing. She sent me a cake bracelet and a muppets cd for a late b-day gift. And i seriously do not know how to re-pay the generosity of this crafter. She is amazing and so talented. So here’s the let them eat cake bracelet inspired by piddleloop. she says it’s one of a kind, but hell i am just honored to wear this work of art.

amy thank you so much for that package. i wear the bracelet proudly. cause i am the type of person who would eat cake all the time i could. altho nat is the type of person who believes dessert is only for dessert and not DINNER. ice cream, pie, cookies, and cake can all be dinner, if i want them to be. I know Nat and Jimmy both are guilty of eating that kind of stuff for BREAKFAST! (yer so busted)

Little Baby Teeple

Comments (3)

Some good things fromt his week. First off Kristen is in town from sunny California. So all the girls met up at B & N for some knitting and visting BABIES! You see Tara had her baby a few weeks ago and brought little Mark Teeple out for his first big day out with all the crazy knitting girls. i was late and the luckiest one, cause after i got my coat off she said something quickly but all i heard was someone take him! so out went the arms! LOOK WHAT I GOT TO HOLD!

he’s wearing the little sweater erin made for him. It’s been a long time since i’ve held a newborn. Quite sometime, like 3 yrs ago when my nephew was born. They smell so good, like new cars. I put him up by my shoulder so i could hear him coo and gurgle and make little noises.

Mr. Quiz and Gray’s Anatomy

Comments (6)

If anyone wants to waste 5 minutes, take my Mr. Quiz. see how well you know me or how well you don’t know me.

also what did you knitters who watch Gray’s Anatomy think of the knitting show? Personally i had mixed feelings about it because i didn’t like the fact that knitting was so associated with “replacing a man” or something directly related to a man. Which is kind of weird. I did however, like the Izzy character’s take on it all. She was the one who could knit and wasn’t using it as some replacement, she was trying to be supportive to a friend and yet she gave the sweater to her crush. All nice, except we all the know the knit your boyfriend/fiance a sweater curse. On a similar note...i’m obsessed with the Izzy character’s mug. She drinks tea out of a short squatty round clear mug of different colors. If any of y’all know where the hell i can find one please tell me. I go insane every sunday when i see this mug.

here’s my awesome friend kelly from the Indiana University days...or i probably SHOULD say the Answer Indiana days.

i met her at a pretty crappy job i had in college. We worked at an answering service and by chance one day while we were still new we bonded over some crazy book she was reading about ice-t (yes the rapper). Kelly is the person with whom i went grocery shopping with always so we “wouldn’t have to do it alone” power walked with, griped with, cried with, and ratedChristmas lights in the rich neighborhood with. oh yes. She is still the same Kelly i had so much fun with. It just makes me miss her more than ever.
** please note i am wearing the awsome DOG SHIRT i got in my craft swap from Daru her store can be found here i wear the darn thing so much i should probably get another one soon!

How are any of you Chicagoans surviving witht he Dan Ryan Destruction 2K6? Man i had my alternate route planned and everything. I think it’s going to be a super secret route too. But didn’t take it tonight because traffic was running free according to the news. I’ll have to report back on that later, altho i passed count them...NINE state cops with people pulled over and TWO without, just on the east side. Not counting how many lights i saw on the other side. yikes.

When i got home tonight i saw i had gotten some mail this weekend while i was gone! look at this cute return address label! (address smudged out for stalking purposes!)

it was just the cutest littlest box. and inside were some seriously awesome goodies from my fellow beagle owning blogger celadoncupcake’s carol THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR THIS LITTLE BOX - TREATS CAROL! She was making some really cute tissue holders, when she offered me one i said my purse will thank you! So she sent not one but two cutelil holders even already packed with tissue!! She also knows i am a snoopy fiend and sent some cute charlie brown peppermints! A kinder egg which i haven’t had since i datedshawn from Canada and some super cute little stickers. Carol i really thank you for taking the time to put the little package together for me, i really love all of it.

Not much else to show. Nat didn’t want to take a picture of me doing the Rancid Peanut-butter Reenactment, nor did he want me to play any Meatloaf or Archers of Loaf while he was sculpting our meatloaf tonight. (see he really is a total partypoo-per) Altho my sister called with several people who wanted to go in on a pile of poop so i did get to place an order at ilovechickenpoop.com!!

On the knitting front i am STILL plugging away slowly (very very slowly) on the shawl. I haven’t felt like knitting for the past week, so i didn’t work on it much. I am noticing tho that it is now April. And that means i have to gear up forjen’s mother’s day DISHCLOTH BLITZ. Every year i give my mom, Nat’s mom and Nat’s 90+ yr old grandmother knit washcloths, so they can throw out the icky ones from the year before. I usually try to make about 5 each. And because i am so slow it takes me usually a whole month.heh . hence the blitz. This year i am thinking about mixing it up a little by adding a flower cloth for the bath and maybe only 2 or 3 dish cloths for the kitchen.hmmmm . I also got an order from knit picks of their super cheapDK weight Merino to make an ARMY of Japanese Kitties. Oh yes. I tired that last year with Lion brand’s Microspun which was driving me crazy with all it’s splitting...and then my inability to sew the darn parts together. I am going to give it another go. this time with better yarn and some more tenacity. I also want to get my butt moving on some socks. I only made one pair last year and i want to make more this year. *sigh*
