oooooh magic yarn ball!
♥ Comments (1) ♥
My partner got her magic yarn ball! My partner was Rae of Extravayarnza. I had bought the lemongrass and dalhia sock yarn off her earlier this month. She is one of those knitters where people AGIVE her yarn that was machine knit up and then HANDPAINTED JUST FOR HER then unraveled into a skein and gifted to her. Now just how the heck do you top that? i was left pondering, justw hat do you give someone of that calibur? Well something extremely simple. So simple it hurts. The mary jane pattern of course. And because she’s a such a serious knitter she’s ALREADY KNIT A PAIR and wearing them! holy crap. go look at her beautiful mary janes! and all her cool prizes! ( i had to laugh cause she took a picture of what i wrote on the side of her box! oooooh magic yarn ball!

summer sewing project
♥ Comments (10) ♥
i’m taking on a REAL project. A simple skirt pattern i bought today at crazy eighths. Here’s the pattern and fabrics and a close up of which panel skirt.
i want to start them after the holiday and try to get them done in two weeks. I also want to do as much of this as possible without help from my awesome sewing mother. This is a big step for me. i think they will be so pretty if i can indeed sew them. what do you think?

Random Emails
♥ Comments (0) ♥
Have any of you been to Mr. Pickles?( make sure you mouse over them to hear them play) Nat and I like Mr. Pickles. We saw a lot of their stuff around at Renegade, Intonation last year etc. I even bought Nat a Mr. Pickles Cuddler for xmas this last year. It seems i have made nat super jealous by getting not one but TWO emails from mr. pickles (mr pickles himself) one was because i really wish they’d get WHAT UP NUT NUT? shirts printed on regular t-shirts. My sister likes to call Lucy our basset NUT NUT. Mr. Pickles actually wrote me back. A real email. Also tonight i got a random email from mr pickles again, because of something i posted on craftster. Life is good when you can make your boyfriend jealous with emails from a banjo playing Mr. Pickles!

picture post
♥ Comments (5) ♥
pictures from thursday’s “fake show” at Schuba’s. “townshend research” was indeed Robert Pollard playing a secret show. Schuba’s is about as big as a large living room so it was a good show.
total amount of beers consumed: over 20 (lost track after 17 or so but he had one in his hands during the whole show)
total amount of high kicks: 3
ratio of men to women at the show: 5 to 1
of those 5 to 1 they were all balding men
by the end of the show bob needed help getting down the stage stairs
and he stays so damn skinny after drinking like a fish? they are all LITE beers
here’s a non-flash and flash picture- i think i really need to learn more about my camera
On to the assembley of my magic yarn ball!
first you take some my melody pez, sushi tissues, a measuring tape, and a pool cue ball super ball
then you wrap them up and add a whistle, rubber finger puppet, compass, plastic sheep, black sheep button, plastic fish
then you add sparkley hair pins in a chinese little purse
then add a hello kitty necklace in a fortune cookie chinese coin purse
then you throw some handmade stitch marker’s made by Wendy into the mix
and you get the strangest looking ball of yarn ever
sorry for the horrid lighting. i hope my partner will like it. It’s a ball of Noro and the Sweet Mary Jane pattern. I can’t show you who she is yet. But she’s one of those super serious knitter’s. So i hope she has a good laugh and gets a kick out of my ball-o-yarn.

meh
♥ Comments (0) ♥
thanks for all of the comments to nathaniel. i made him read them, and then forced him to join forces with us for renegade chicago. He will be at the crafty ladies table. YAY. So it will be crafty ladies PLUS one crafty boy. (Did you click Nat’s link? he has new buttons up if you did make sure you read the descriptions!)
I am feeling rather meh today sorry. I do not have any pictures for you right now. But you can go see the package lucy, sam and i sent to carol and her beagle arrow sam and lucy shared some of their birthday dog treats with arrow and i sent carol some goodies. I had a long vent post but i just don’t think i can even vent to you guys about it. For some reason i am sure i will piss off people out there. so i am just going to go meh. and maybe post again tomorrow.

I need your help
♥ Comments (7) ♥
I’d like to say thanks for the input on the logo. I like it very much, and can’t wait to start incorporating it. Most of the stuff is back in the shop. I’m photographing some whales and pigs today (some of the newer pouches)
I ask for some help. you see. We are going to do Renegade Chicago this September. Nathaniel keeps telling me Moustache Factory won’t make back the table fee for the weekend. The table fee will be broken down by at least 6or 7 people. It will be some where around 40$. He for some reason doesn’t think he will even make 40$. I think he needs some help convincing him to join up. He doesn’t seem to believe me. What do you guys think? Should he join us for renegade chicago? please tell nat reason’s why he should or shouldn’t do this. I will make him read all your comments.

All I’ve got
♥ Comments (11) ♥
This weekend i’ll be getting the stuff back. We’ll be putting up new stuff we’ve made in the past few weeks and the old stuff for you. Today was spent sewing. It’s too hot to knit. Plus the sewing machine is in the basement where it is really cool (concrete floors). I’ve also managed to SLICE off part of my fingertip. Well the side of it with the rotary cutter. It looks pretty cool.
i’ve got the logo i came up with for ourselves. with our new name. my sister didn’t like the name. i told her we could get shirts with our team number on the back and she said that’s stupid. it’s like nascar. um yeah. nascar/sewing? sounds really ALIKE to me. So the other day i say piddleloop sewing team member 01 and she asks me why am i 01? i said because you didn’t want a number because it was all NASCAR. I think she now realizes that the name is just meant to be funny. who wants to silk screen our shirts?
anyways here’s the logo. hope you like it.
hope you have a good weekend. i’m out to the city til sunday nite.

Piddleloop Sewing Team Member 01
♥ Comments (7) ♥
Thanks for the fun memememe i think i have returned the favor on most of them. I’ll keep checking this week. This weekend i made a logo with nat’s help cause i was on the computer waaaay too much doing freelance stuff. And i needed help drawing a needle. I will have to bug him for the logo to show you. But i think we’re gonna call ourselves the piddleloop sewing team cause it’s funny. Anyways....erin gifted me a rotary cutter and a small mat. i have her to thank for enabling this post.
with that i’ve made these for myself i think the calico screams summer
and i’ve made these for friends:
and i have two more for erin and jessica on the machine. i just can’t help it these are so fun to make. they are like CRACK.
I will be in chicago Thursday til sunday woo woo! Why? cause it’s rumored waaaay back in late april early may that robert pollard (guided by voices) will be playing Schuba’s umder an assumed name for a DVD taping of sorts. It was leaked on the internet and Nat nabbed tickets. It’s now sold out and Pollard is in town this weekend for Intonation. You see why is this important? Schuba’s is TINY TINY TINY folks. And since he’s known for drinking buttloads and still being able to do high kicks, i’m sure this venue will prove to be a good place to see him in. Besides i think he’s aged somewhat well. He wears grey hair well. (image from google image search)
***EDITED*** yes he has a pipe coming from his head. the article was making jokes about him drinking like water, hence the water spout. i can remember seeing guided by voices in Indy in like 1995 and wondering how they could still stand on stage with how much crap they drank. way to go Ohio.

color week day five: Red
♥ Comments (2) ♥
there is a garden on the way to my parents house that has been there for years and years. This garden every early summer grows Poppies. I pass this garden daily for years and always enjoyed the Poppies bright red. Year to year i noticed a decline in the upkeep of the garden. One year there weren’t many poppies and i was concerned about the owner. This year the little scarecrow that usually hangs in the garden isn’t out. (could be a bad sign) BUT the Poppies are everywhere, and bright and pretty. I’ve always meant tot ake pictures of the flowers, and finally did on wednesday.

Kidlettes, Birthdays, friends = good times
♥ Comments (4) ♥
what’s been going on this week? Erin asked what zander and i were doing yesterday and we ended up meeting up to let the kids have some fun. There were ice pops, Kitty, knitting, playgrounds, and good times.
i love to photograph jessica. She moves SOO much you rarely see a quiet moment. I love this picture of her. (love that haircut!)
ok so it’s Lesa’s birthday go over and wish her a happy birthday! We met up to celebrate and get our knit on.
so what happens when you feed us chocolate cherry truffles and cream cheese brownies? total sugar buzz!
lesa wearing her pie shawl on her head!
and erin still knits fast (she trying to hide and she’s purposely knitting slow heh heh little does she know it didn’t work)
i’m modeling a headband
and guess what’s come out now that dish cloth blitz 2 k 6 is over?
you guessed it ANIMAL! (just imagine it chanting WO-MAN! WO-MAN!)
perhaps cause lesa’s knitting hers and calling it a cyclone
so let that be a lesson to y’all. don’t eat truffles and cream cheese brownies for dinner.

cute stuff and things
♥ Comments (8) ♥
i got some cute stuffs and things to share. First off i ordered this from jennifer and it arrived yesterday. It’s called an Omni cozy. Everytime i emailed her i thinki called it something different that involved 7 or 8 hyphenated names.
i also got my magic yarn ball from my partner Maxx. She got the colors dead on. and all i can see so far is a giant awesome looking pencil sticking out of it! i am thinking a pair of sweet mary janes for me in this colorway! Whenever i knit it i will show you what little trinkets fall out of it. Which reminds me i have my crap to wind up into a ball for my partner.
see all the new dishcloths i’ve been knitting up? that’s a pile of 10. Add that to the 15 i knit for mother’s day and i’m up to 30 now. I have about 3 or 4 more to knit. THEN i can move on to the Zen of the sock.
also i’ve sewn up some headbands.

Homesick James, Honeyboy Edwards and others
♥ Comments (2) ♥
i got nat to upload some pictures for your enjoyment. Behold the master set.
Homesick james with his apprentice
close up
Honeyboy Edwards
robert jr lockwood (too bad there’s a chair blocking his really pretty blue guitar)
henry townshend
and after their set we were wandering around, we found them signing autographs in a tent.
and henry with nat
NOTE*** all of them wore fabulous hats. And almost all of them had fablous shoes. elaborate shoes, like with alligator or they matched their suit. this is unbelieveably cool in my book.

the weekend
♥ Comments (3) ♥
i forgot my camera this weekend! we went to see the Master’s Set at noon on saturday for the blues fest. We saw several 90 year old legends of blues play. When it took 10 min to get homesick james strapped into his guitar you KNOW it’s going to be good. plus he’s a whaler. i love it when they whale. i’m probably spelling that wrong but i don’t care. the old town art festival was crowded but nice. And then there was Ribfest. We could have eaten ourselves into a food coma. Luckily we ran into my friend Jessica who screamed GALE STREET INN! when we said what do we eat first? Nat had ribs and i had the best pulled pork EVER. then we ate empanadas from the cuban place next to gale street’s booth. Sunday we met up with Kristen W. who with Mo is driving our stuff to NYC tuesday. I’ll have to see if i can snag some pictures of blues fest nat took. i really hate it when i forget my camera!
BUT i was on my sister’s computer tonight and i dug up something to show y’all. My sister’s sewing room is tiny. There is a bean bag, lucy loves to sleep on. The process of her getting comfy on this thing can usually take up to 5 min. she smashes it down walks in circles then plops down. check her out:

Blues, Ribs, and sock yarn
♥ Comments (5) ♥
Ok so if you live in Chicago you have no excuse to NOT be attending any one of the thousand things going on this weekend. Blues Fest kicked off last nite in Grant Park. We are going to see David “honeyboy” Edwards play his two sets in the afternoon on Saturday. He will be 91 this summer! We were lucky to attend his 90th birthday celebration last july. SO GOOD! and since the blues fest is free AND it will be in the 60’s this weekend...you have no excuse people.
there is also Rib Fest going on over in North Center/Lincoln Square. you can get your BBQ on, as they battle it out to be #1 in the BBQ pit. And there is also Wells street art festival. Going on all weekend as well. i think it is only 5$ to get in...google it (i’m feeling lazy) and check. If you see me there with a frowning boy (nat) in tow please wave and say hi. (and i don’t know why nat is always frowning and looks so unenthused all the time...if you ask him he simply says he LIKES frowning..coming from a boy who idolizes Mr. Burns i think it makes sense)
in knitting news. i’ve STILL be knitting dishcloths. Yes it’s dishcloth blitz all over again. This time i am gearing up for my sisTURD’s birthday and my friend’s house warming in july. they will each have a stack. I am feeling the ZEN of the sock. everyone’s knitting socks. i’ve borrowed the vintage sock book from erin and i ordered some way way WAY pretty yan to get in the sock zen. i will begin my season of the sock after the discloth blitz. so let me show you the yarn! i found it here Rae is super nice. She will even wind it for you if you ask nicely. She also did something BRILLIANT! she attached a stitch marker to the tail of the skein so you know where to start! i love her! Here’s Lemongrass
and Dalhia
so our stuff is packed up, labeled, and ready to be shipped off with Kristen and Mo. We are sad we are not going with them to NYC tuesday, but at least our stuff is. So NEXT WEEKEND if you see our stuff make sure you wave at mr. horse, mr. whale, and the piggy. they like it when you wave. everything we have conviently fits in these bins (ignore the MOUNTAIN of dog toys in the far background)
(and thank you all for the well wishes it means a lot to us. we are glad (*whew*) you like the new animals and fabrics. we hope you all go to brooklyn and buy all of our stuff so we can eat and buy more fabric around here!)

♥ Comments (8) ♥
Last call for the store before it gets emptied saturday for the big Renegade send off! I just want to be fair and let y’all know before we deplete the store of it’s goods and send them to brooklyn. We’re keeping the shop open tho so you can purchase many items from our friends.
I had announced where we will be wrong. They will not have the CRAFTY LADY banner. We will be with Sweet June Handmade and kristen W’s stuff. I believe the site lists them as #11. Just look for our brightly colored pouches! i’m also sending some sets of stitch markers, tissue holders and stationery.
Here’s some photos of my long day of sewing today....by the way did i mention the Singer is a 1960’s model?
we’re introducing some new animals such as whales
and piggys
and new fabrics
so last call for stuff from our shop before it all goes to NEW YORK NEW YORK!
*****HEY ALL YOU NEW YORKERS! IF YOU GO TO RENEGADE AND SEE OUR STUFF PLEASE LEAVE ME A COMMENT OR GIVE ME AN EMAIL!! I’D LOVE TO KNOW WHAT YOU THOUGHT OF THE TABLE AND THE HELPFUL KRISTEN W, MO, AND HER MANY FRIENDS.*********

really great people
♥ Comments (10) ♥
First i want to make a little announcement. We are proud to say that stuff from our Piddleloop store will be at the Renegade Craft Fair in Brooklyn in 2 weeks. If you are in the area please look for the table with the banner that says CRAFTY LADIES. Our stuff will be on their table! Kristen and Mo are nice enought to travel there and allow us some space on the table. So if you spy something in the store. you may want to nab it before it goes to NYC in 2 weeks.
now on to the regularly scheduled post.....
oh yes i’ve got some face to go with those names…
cara of my dorky best friend. the quiet sometimes AWOL side of that duo was in town today. luckily i remembered my camera for our meet up.
she’s got her big bad baby blanket
next she is modeling the modified salted peanuts sweater erin knit for her
and then just to prove to you really how fast erin knits look at her hands in this picture!
zander was entertaining everyone
here’s steph of salem rose
kristen was also visiting us from CA. and she had a major hair mishap..but managed to have it look cute in the end.
my sister bought this shirt for zander to wear at the flea market last week
that’s pretty much all of the valpo stitch’n bitch!
this weekend should be fun. my college friend Kelly(mon) is in town again, i hope she can come to the printer’s row book fair with jimmy and joy. I hope y’all have a good weekend.
So i hope y’all have a good weekend. i’ll leave with another picture of my nephew hamming it up for the camera
