Comments (2)

I’ve been sick all week and haven’t felt well so I only have some linkage for you. But i figure you could possibly enjoy some of these things, maybe not.

Anyways....
please check out Kim at knit kharma! She actually contacted me caus eshe placed an order. She is a really prolific knitter she just started a blog and could use some readership. Please check her out she is pretty new in the bloggidty blog world. And her blog is pink the color of Dunkin Dounuts mmmm donuts.

Also newish in the blog world is Si from cutable He emailed me to tell me he featured the sewing team, but he also mentioned he has a beagle. He is a fellow hound owner! I asked immediatley for beagle pictures and Sogo is very cute indeed. So if you like cute stuff and finding cute things for gifts and stuff please check out Si. And you can always ask for pictures of his hound. Also my apology to poor Si. I had no idea you were a boy. Altho Si is a pretty name and so is Sogo!

If you live in Chicago the Paper Source Wharehouse sale that happens twice a year is happening today til 2pm. I am not sure i want to go embark on that madness again , maybe in the spring.

Ok i’ve got a stack of animals i need to cut and embroider and Nat is working away at the button machine. I promise i’ll work on having more content next week. Until then make friends with these new bloggers and help them gain some readership.

P.S. Wendy tells me she should be done serging all of the small project pouches in the pile this weekend. So get ready for a shop update on monday!!!

giving (even a little) is a good thing

Comments (0)

Erin, my very good friend and pattern designer of the Sweet Mary Janes, is doing a Breast Cancer Walk this weekend. She is trying to raise just 250$. She isn’t at her goal yet. Can you please go here and donate? Even a small amount (like i did) will make you feel good, AND go to a great cause! If just 4 people from here could donate 5$ she’d have another 20$ to add to her goal!

a little mememememem

Comments (4)

ok i SWEAR i had this posted then i was doing some spring cleaning in the blog here and i think in some delusional state i dleted it somehow. So i am sure they won’t be the same but i’ll repost what i saw over at Karen’s blog

You are supposed to tell everyone (the WORLD) five weird thigns about you. The list should be bigger for me. i have hundreds, altho Nat is not very good at helping me remember all of them.

1. I cannot sleep in the same room with a blinking light. EVER. Nat says you are supposed to shut your eyes and therefore you won’t SEE IT. I beg to differ, i KNOW it’s THERE and simply can’t deal with it. This is a major problem if you own a mac or powerbook. When they sleep they have a pulsing white light.

2. I will not eat stuff my fingers have touched EXCEPT french fries

3. I am a salt-aholic. I was sadly outed about this recently when Nat bought for me a one inch button that said SALT with a shaker on it and i got all excited. I was in the prescence of Stevie and her mom in her Renegade booth at the time. I had to hang my head and say yes i eat salt. plain. i am weird i know this.

4. I do not like the corwn of my head to be touched by anyone. Even a hairdresser, which results in me fliching and freaking out. If you touch the crown of my head prepare to die.

5. Nat says stuff like i bite my nails off. That’s not very weird. He also says i see very dog everywhere. That’s not weird either. I judge movies based upon their opening titles. They have to be set in a decent typeface for me to even take the movie seriously. I also judge many things based on typefaces chosen.
I refuse to hold or touch an umbrella. I’d rather get wet than hold one. Everyone thinks it’s because you don’t want it to turn inside out, but that’s not the case. Just holding it makes me sweat and nervous. I will not ever walk on those grates you see in the sidewalk on the east coast. Nat laughed at me all last week in Philly cause i hold my breath and avoid those like the plague. I KNOW i of all people will fall thru one of them. I have many many irrational fears. Such as if you stick your finger in my belly button i am CONVINCED it will open and my innards will fly out like a can of snakes. Also this action will make me feel like i have to vomit. I have to run up open staircases, thinking a hand could grab at my ankle. I sneeze about on average 15 times. Most people sneeze once or twice and i sneeze for 5 min. It’s painful and loud and hurts. Most people ask if i am ok. My family says STOP IT. like i WANT TO SNEEZE THIS WAY. you know IF I COULD STOP IT I WOULD ALREADY! I also hiccup everyday. I am like a circus freak.

Yet another intresting Fall picture

Comments (3)

MANTIS! This little guy came to rest on our west windowsill this evening. Zander and I had a good time looking at him and photographing him. He’s pretty cool.

I offer you something a little DIFFERENT (visually) for fall

Comments (4)

First I’d like to make three little announcements. There are three very talented people out there in blogland, and making very cool stuff. So they deserve some mentioning on the blog for y’all to enjoy. First up! Please check out Nina’s New Shop! It’s very small right now, and she’s working on getting her own URL and stuff. She’s even thinking about making her POO pattern available to y’all if enough of you are intrested! Nina’s livejournal is here too. Please spend some time getting to know her, she’s really cool.

I meant to join Rebecca’s blog birthday contest. I see now that i got back from philly i’m a little late. But I want to let y’all know she did an awesome shop update and her stuff is top notch. Such as this antique apple zippered pouch. Now y’all know i make zippered pouches, but this fabric is so cute it kills me. I don’t even like pink so much. So someone out there in bloggidty-blogland should see this and snatch it up right away!! Please check out her Anniversay/Shop update and shop for some xmas gifts while you’re at it!

Third, is Stephanie from Spritley Goods. Man you guys HAVE to check out her sock yarn! I look at her sock yarn about once a week longingly. She has added something new and very cool to her shop. FELTED SOAPS! She sent me two with some business cards and these things are brilliant and unique! I know y’all have some unique friends/knitter’s out there who could use some of these as gifts for xmas! Please check out her new soaps in her shop and keep supporting handmade/DIY businesses!

Now that i gave you three wonderful people who make really wonderful handmade things. I have been seeing wonderful pictures everywhere in blogland of people enjoying fall. And showing some awesome fall things like pumpkins and leaves and stuff. I took some photos this week that are a little something different.
MUSHROOMS! These babies were growing in the front yard all week. Zander and I enjoyed looking at them each day. I took a million photos and they are quite neat. The neighbor kid stomped all over the mushrooms today and it really upset Zander. So here’s a little bit of fall for you!

philly 2006

Comments (5)

So we went to philly to attend Farm Aid with Nat’s Step-dad and brother. It was Sept 30th and it was a really good time, despite the rain, freezing temps, and the smell of feet (thanks Camden). I really enjoyed Sheryl Lynn. John Mellencamp ("the coug” to us Hoosiers) put on an awesome show, dave matthews was WITHOUT his jammy jam band so he was tolerable and Neil Young put on quite the show. Arlo Gunthrie was sick and out that show and we left at 10ish because we were damp and frozen and had been there for 7 hrs and missed Willie Nelson.

Nat’s parents have a really nice porch with rocking chairs, good for knitting.

We visited Nat’s ADORABLE Grandmother. Can you believe this woman is in her 90’s? SHe doesn’t look a day over 60. ( i insist on knowing what skin cream she’s using and i just leanred she is a meat & potatos kind of gal, perhaps it is something in the water) (NOTE: nat is ACTUALLY smiling in this picture)

Philly has some nice typography:

Nat and I on South Street Oct 1, 2006

Philly has some intresting architecture

Unlike Chicago, Philly has a Garment District:

And no sales tax on yarn!

Look Nat looking not so miserable in the yarn shop

I also shot a nice picture of him with out him seeing:

I also got my fill of cheesesteak, soft pretzels, and deli sandwiches while out east. mmmmm east coast food. Also GO BEARS! Sorry for the long photo post, I think by now you know i am a visual kind of gal and i also keep them low res enough it should still be ok.

I’m trying to knit and i am crocheting two secret projects, make that three. But I will be busy on the 1960’s Singer again very soon. The Self School Craif Fair is coming up really soon. I hope you like the new banners up above, if you have any issues in your browser try REFRESH it usually works. I’ve also deleted the Perfect Pie Blog. That whole incident with the mohair and then my reduex with a cotton/tencel blend was just bad karma. The whole thing never turned out in my favor. Animal was put to rest awhile back, straight to the trash can because you cannot rip out 20 rows of mohair. I joined Socktoberfest and will spend some time STARING at some sock yarn longingly this week because i will be on the sewing machine. Maybe i’ll feel my sock needles for fun too. More tomorrow.
