I’ll make this a separate post to make it less confusing and more fun to play along.
Cause I need some fun…
i’m going to RIP OFF erin, who ripped off someone else with a fun little mememememe.

*** leave in the comments 3 things you want me to show pictures of on my blog and I’ll do my best to do it. Yes. Go for it. I will do my best.***

sorry to leave the DPN Wallets up there for so long. But there hasn’t been much going on over here. It’s been grey, chilly and rainy. I’ve been knitting a sock and watching some tv. Despite the fact that i have no intrest in The GReat American Dream Vote that is on ABC, I watched the first one so I could see if the lady who wanted to build a SENIOR BASSETT HOUND SANCTUARY would win. I voted for her. I forced and i do mean FORCED Nat to vote for her. I used every spam email address i had since each address could get up to five votes. And what happens? America gives it to the stupid bald guy. He just wanted hair.
I am not happy. Also my beloved veronica mars STILL isn’t on. Pick the damn stupid pussy cat doll already, no one cares. My beloved (gar) Goil from top design was booted off last nite. arg.

Anyways. It’s spring which means jen gets some new shoes. I’ve never owned Keen’s before, but i spied these ont he super deep discount rack. Once i put them on i didn’t want tot ake them off. And i have seriously high arches people. Be forewarned you know i have a Mary Jane obsession much like Erin.

i’m scoping a new pair of kangaroos this comign weekend too. I have to make a trip to Hanig’s since amazon and zappos don’t have my size.

and i’ve been knitting away like mad on my cable twist sock. I’m not into the swing of all this sock knitting. I’m working on it. I had screwed up a whole pattern round so bad it was too noticable. So i ripped it all out. Then re-knit. Then i got to a good 5 inches to try it on and it’s a smidge too tight.
great. So now i must rip again. But here it is as of yeaterday.

I’ll share my WIP’s with y’all

i’ll add some DPN Wallets to our shop this weekend. Here’s a bunch freshly pressed

here’s a pile to be serged and sewn

My friend Kristen is in town, from CA. I’m meeting up with her to knit tonight. yay!

stuff and things post #0938475938745938453

First, my sister and I want to THANK ALL of you who took a second to HEART US! You guys rock. All of you! That’s right y’all officially rock.

Second, I’ve finally got some of our stuff uploaded on to etsy. So we actually have stuff in there now! WOO WOO!

We still have stuff in the regular shop too. If any of you want something that’s in one but not the other just email me, you need not pay double shipping and stuff like that.
I even put a few DPN sock needle wallets up there. I have a few more in different fabrics to finish over the weekend. The sewing universe has been against me for the past two days or so.

I wanted to show a few pictures. First Suzie over at Purly Gates has spolied *ME* rotten with her Tea Package that arrived earlier this week. This all started from our birthday swap...she sent this tea...her favorite tea. It has quickly become MY favorite tea. I told her since it’s not online and from some little tea house if she goes back i will paypal her cash COLD HARD CASH FOR MORE! She then propsed another swap of sorts. Go look at what i sent her!!

Here is her package:

More chestnut tea, some Vanilla almond, two small teas from Lupicia called afternoon tea & the au latte tea...and last but not least the prettiest jar of TEA HONEY. It’s honey with tea in it, but the packaging is SO pretty i had to take like 10 pictures of it. Here’s two:

and last. Stevie over at Trudesign got a haircut and took a self portrait. I think her new do looks pretty good. I had my hair cut yesterday and i suddenly lost 3 more inches of hair. So I tried my best to shoot a picture of myself but couldn’t find a tripod. So you have some really goofy-ness of me holding the camera out for the front and back.

what do you think? Looks much better i think, but i have to get into the swing of shorter hair and remember to go get a haircut.
So I hope to have some progress on my sock knitting for you next week and a few more pretty springy DPN wallets to add. So have a good weekend and thank you again for stopping by!

Just a little

Comments (7)

Just a little post here until I can take some pictures of the Tea package i received from Suzie. Turns out there were so many Flip Flaps in Nat’s apt, because he was going to replace flip flap for me (we thought flip flap broke when he was murdered, oh i mean shoved off the window sill by nat’s kat simon. Nat just wanted to get a FF for himself too.

Anyways we have a big announcment. We are on Etsy now. Oh yes you can heart us now. Please feel free to heart us. (make us your favorite!)
But Jen, there’s nothing listed you say. Well we’ll have some stuff there hopefully if all goes well wednesday morning! woo woo! And a few dpn wallets should be lurking about. Especially now that i have more tea to drink to sew tomorrow.  So won’t you please tell all your etsy friends, and as always support handmade...it’s a great place to show your support.

***Also we’ve updated a few project pouches in the shop.***

I have a few pictures Nat took with his camera, the brownie starflex twin lens camera. He again is using the Through the Viewfinder method of shooting thru the old cameras with his digital. we took a walk and he was documenting some of it.  You can look at Nat’s Flickr account here

color

Comments (9)

There have been some bright colors around this week. Perhaps all in preparation of spring...or maybe not.
First for anyone who wants to know what a Flip Flap is? It’s a little toy plant that moves using a light sensor. You can’t kill it. It won a design award and my friend Jimmy gave me one ages ago. You can check it out here or google it.
I walked into Nat’s apt today to find two new flip flaps around. I don’t know why, but they sure are cute. One is still in the package, but the other was sitting next to my flip flap.

Next a package arrived early this morning. Thanks to Carol over at Celadon Cupcake for sending me some really super cute little dishsoap aprons, yo-yo flowers, and some candy. SHe is so thoughtful and super cute. I am a sucker for flower pins. but aren’t they all pretty? I even enjoyed the little comic about dogs she included!! Thank you carol!

Also check out this new purse i sewed up for Erin! It looks so buttery in the sun. I know she will like it. She gave me that wonderful bracelet in orange i posted awhile back. That was an awesome trade.

I’m planning on sewing up another one of these in a different fabric for my cousin, Michelle. She really liked the kitty bag i made for her at xmas time, so i figure she’d like a more serious and pretty one.

A bit of sock knitting AND a bit-o-green. I’m not Irish, nor do i pretend to be in March. But so i won’t get blog pinched, i’ll post some green.

The pattern is the cable twist. I also learned i was doing this WRONG. I’ve since re-cast on. (thanks erin) The yarn is from KinderedSpirits.

On saturday I’m going to hang out with Katy and Anne might drop by to hang and craft. I made a little sock needle DPN wallet for Katy. I hope she will like it. She liked this blue fabric so i paired it with brown. I’ve also used heat bonded velcro to work the ribbon flap that holds the stitch markers. I also made it so it will hold lengths of 6” or 7” DPN’s. I also added stitch markers made by Erin, since Katy has met her a few times. I’m still toying with the idea of making a few of these for the shop, still kind of unsure though. I’m making a few for a friend who is going to give some to her secret pals in some swaps. So have a good weekend, i hope yours is filled with color.

Meet Orange

Comments (12)

Hi my name is Orange. I belong to Nat. I am named after a cat Nat had when he was really little who was a little mangled from kitty fights and such. I am a little wonky because Jen, who sewed me up, isn’t good at 3-dimensional sewing...or hand sewing...or sewing little things)

I like to watch flip flap move in my spare time!

Nathaniel found this pattern online for a pointy kitty and told me he wanted one. Isn’t he lucky i handsewed (badly) something for him?
Be kind or else i’ll sick Orange on you at night...while yer sleeping....sneeky sneeky kitty.

While Away

Comments (6)

Sorry I’ve been away. I’ve just been else-where and not able to be here. I’m sure y’all understand. But be prepared..i’ve got a buttload of photos to post so your viewing pleasure will not be so boring.
Speaking of Boring. Nat and I made our way to the Boring Store which just opened a bit ago. What is the boring store you ask? Well it’s a store that sells all yor hole making needs. Well that’s according to the sign, if you step in..it’s a SPY STORE. Yes a spy store.
But you see all the proceeds go to 826CHI There are several of these all over the US, a pirate store, a space store, and a spy store! Nat and I really enjoyed our visit and we each bought about 20$ woth of stuff a piece. I just love how this helps the kids with tutoring and writing and most of it is free. So if you have one of these in your community, please go support it. here’s some of our spy loot:

Note, nat HAD to have the mustache. It’s the “peoria style” they had many styles on a stick so you could “try them on”
The mini etch a sketch is a spy memo for little zander.
We then stopped at Quimby’s and nat bought me a present.

Yes those are bacon flavored mints. They smell atrocious and taste even worse. But still they are funny. They are sitting by my favorite tea mug.
I snuck a quick picture of Nat wearing some of his plastic glasses from Zander’s 4th Birthday party.

And we were in luck last weekend, Carol & Dan of Celadon Cupcake, were in town for a wedding. They actually agreed to have dinner with us. Carol is a feelow beagle owner, you may have heard her talk about Arrow.(that picture of arrow is by the way my most favorite of her)
So without further adu, bad lighting and all here we all are:

They were so nice and fun to talk to. I love Carol’s general excitment. I think they also made nat talk more than usual. He didn’t have the tortured look he usually does when someone makes him be social.
She gave me a few pretty “spring-like” goodies 2 of which she made.

a flower she made, an orange tissue holder, and a pretty dish towel she thought could be made into something pretty. All of her items are thoughful and cute.
Thanks again Dan and Carol for having dinner with Nat and I, it was a real pleasure.
Now I’ve managed to get very little knitting done. Why you ask? Because Nat wanted a hat. He made me unknit it about 4 times and re-knit this hat.
It’s taken 3 weeks too many. But here it is, note the dirty bathroom mirror in nat’s apt!

I also bust out some bulky winter white lamb’s pride and some irridescent large holed sequins and made this (it’s not all the way done so it’s laying flat)
another sparkle hat from the stitch and bitch book

Erin made one last week too. And speaking of erin. She gave me the prettiest bracelet last week. What do you think guys? Should she open her own etsy shop? She also made that barrette. She threaded buttons onto that thing!

I also want tot hank Lesa for the little gift she gave me last nite. SNOOPY! who doesn’t love snoopy house-socks?

Ok so now i will leave you with pet photos. First two of Samuel. Yes she’s a girl. My beagle that’s usually a cranky old lady when the cameras out. These two pictures crack me up. They show off her personality...fun & INTENSE all in the span of 5 min.

and because i don’t post enough of Nat’s Cat Simon. here’s a series of pictures showing you my “torture” (i hold him and kiss him or hug him, and he hates this) of simon.
