i have joined the ranks

i have joined the ranks of the 21st century and i am now on a cell phone plan. i had always lived my life dangerously without a cell phone until now. i am on a family share plan with my sister and all it cost me is 20$ a month, but for 2 years. it’s not so bad considering i use the phone at night anyways but i can call chicago and not have it cost me. nice. lost points so far are, nathaniel who is extremly threatened by the cell phone. he calls me one of THEM and yells at me when i look at it for the time since i haven’t been wearing a watch. i called my mom to tell her good news that he was hired before their bedtime but after 9pm and handed him the phone to let him tell her and he ran away like a little kid. he yells at me for using the phone but then when i say i won’t call him he says i like it when you call me. why is everything so difficult?
i have a disgusting habit. no i don’t smoke, or really drink much. it’s biting my nails. i’m 30 years old and for 30 years i’ve had no nails. my sister has always called them NUBS. heh. when people tell me that i should stop biting my nails i simply tell them i have lived 30 years withOUT them why would i need them now? people usually have nothing to say back to that. well i have to say that 99% of my biting is now done unconsciously and alot when i am driving. argh. i have managed to bite one nail so far down there is nothing left of it. it’s not painful but now it’s not growing, because it’s snagging and peeling. my co-worker told me to try VASELINE INTENSIVE CARE HEALTHY HAND ESSENTIALS LOTION...this stuff is the greatest. it smells so good and it’s light and absorbs well. it actually makes my hands soft and you are supposed to massage it into your nails and after 2 weeks it will strengthen them and help with peeling. my one nail is now not peeling anylonger. but i am obseesed with rubbing this lotion on to my hands, kind of like my obsession with hand sanitizer. mmmmm hand sanitizer i can’t live my life with out you.
my sister’s birthday is next saturday. she is the hardest person on the planet to buy something for, my sister will literally tell you to your face that she hates your gift and how bad it is. i got her a hair straightner once when she was 15 because the one she had was held together with duct tape, and she threw it at me in disgust. this has happened alot thru the years. it’s always black or white with her, there is no greay inbetween area with my sister. she is the type of person who doesn’t really put tons of thought into a gift tho. there is nothing wrong with that it’s just the way she is. for my birthday each year i have always received money when i always thought she could just THINK of the stuff i like and be more thoughtful. her xmas presents had gotten more thoughtful over the years, she got into making quilts and fleece blankets! Every year i say i will not give up and i will not give in and i will find her a gift. i have done pretty well in recent years, but this year i think i have outdone myself...i got her something that she will just have to love. i got her this and i am in the process of finding 2 pictures to place inside it. my mom really likes this gift alot too and she said i did a pretty good job this year.
speaking of a good job this year, my sister and i were told “YOU DID GOOD” this is a very good statement to hear from my father, this was in approval of his father’s day gift. which was a waist high light up PINK FLAMINGO..it is also animated. why a pink flamingo for father’s day you ask? well my father about 7 years ago saw a giant light up palm tree somewhere in a light display in chicago. he found out he could get one in michigan. so he drove up to michigan and 200$ later we have a 15 foot tall light up palm tree that twinkles. it’s put out in our yard every xmas. over the years my neighbors have had fun placing a blow up godzilla and king kong on or around the tree. a shark too. so naturally when my sister and i saw this flamingo at hobby lobby a month ago, we exclaimed to each other we had to get that for dad. hence a pink flamingo for father’s day! only in the schafer house.
i have bought my yarns for my wrap i am making for vacation. i know i am going to vegas in july and i know it will be 4 thousand degress, but i freeze in A/C and it will be cool at nite. so i am making a wap in red’s. i have some ribbion yarn in burgandy and 3 novelty yarns to use in my change stitch. it will be airy and beautiful i hope. now i just have to finish it in time. and speaking of that i must go finish my sister’s washclothes for her birthday.
