Knitting

Yes, there’s been knitting going on over here. I knit a pair of fetching mitts for Joy’s b-day but didn’t photograph them, they are out of purple manos. I won’t go into detail about the terrible karma i’ve had with knitting these mitss...or knitting for my friend amy. So far i am clear that the knitting universe is telling me that it JUST ISN"T going to work right now.
So wendy has been holding two deconstructed projec tpouches i cut for myself last october for hostage. She said lucy needs a sweater. This..what follows is the number one reason i do not knit sweaters....ever. I do not enjoy seaming. I do not enjoy sewing something together at all, ever. I took measurments of the damn dogs. Their chests at the shoulders are larger than their under carriages. Especially Lucy, she like a box, but with a slim body. So here’s what i cast on for samuel, the cranky beagle…
Basically I’d use up every extra ball of bulky Lamb’s pride i had laying around and make this thing sans sleeves. First it’s not knit in the round and if it could be knit in the round it would save alot more time. But basically it looked like this when i knit the top.
so i layed it on samuel and kept checking well it fit her ok and the length was good
so i knit the second piece and sewed it on and then seamed the damn thing and wove in a million ends. Basically it took me all day, I put it on her and it drug on the ground. Basically it fit in the shoulders then it was too big around for her body and she just looked miserable. (hence no picture. So she now has scruffy’s (out old long haired doxie that has passed on) sweater.
here she is giving you one of her many “looks” she is not happy to ever be put in anything, warm or not.
So what happened to tthe sweater? I put it on Lucy. I will fiddle with it next week by unraveling an end and knitting some more length on it. but it works for her now.

i laughed out loud when i saw the pics of samuel with the piece of sweater draped over her. i actually think the sweater is just the right size for lucy...if she were wearing pants! tee hee hee. oh, how i wish our hounds could meet! too bad i can’t take arrow on the plane, if i could, she’d come with us in march!

awwww....they both look so “happy” with their new sweaters! :) i find that pieces of polarfleece with velcro attachments work quite well. and, no ends to sew in.

Lucy looks very pretty in her sweater. Seaming is for the birds. Ugh.
My sister’s dog loves wearing sweaters. He tries to crawl into them on his own. It is very cute.

I keep saying I have to make something for Eisenhower so that he stops shivering in the cold...maybe tomorrow now that I am inspired...hmmm

Both of your models are too, too cute for words!
How miserable Samuel looks (Which made me smile, because it’s an incredibly happy looking sweater!)

You’re quite kind to make sweaters for the pups! I have that book and plan to use it to make Jackson (my dachshund) his next sweater. He is pretty good about wearing shirts, but he looked miserable wearing the homemade sweater - he kept giving me looks that begged for some reason for this punishment! Silly Dogs. (You can see him in his sweater here)

Lucy looks adorable! That look means she likes it, right? I love the stripes and colors you chose.
