philly 2006
♥ Comments (5) ♥
So we went to philly to attend Farm Aid with Nat’s Step-dad and brother. It was Sept 30th and it was a really good time, despite the rain, freezing temps, and the smell of feet (thanks Camden). I really enjoyed Sheryl Lynn. John Mellencamp ("the coug” to us Hoosiers) put on an awesome show, dave matthews was WITHOUT his jammy jam band so he was tolerable and Neil Young put on quite the show. Arlo Gunthrie was sick and out that show and we left at 10ish because we were damp and frozen and had been there for 7 hrs and missed Willie Nelson.
Nat’s parents have a really nice porch with rocking chairs, good for knitting.
We visited Nat’s ADORABLE Grandmother. Can you believe this woman is in her 90’s? SHe doesn’t look a day over 60. ( i insist on knowing what skin cream she’s using and i just leanred she is a meat & potatos kind of gal, perhaps it is something in the water) (NOTE: nat is ACTUALLY smiling in this picture)
Philly has some nice typography:
Nat and I on South Street Oct 1, 2006
Philly has some intresting architecture
Unlike Chicago, Philly has a Garment District:
And no sales tax on yarn!
Look Nat looking not so miserable in the yarn shop
I also shot a nice picture of him with out him seeing:
I also got my fill of cheesesteak, soft pretzels, and deli sandwiches while out east. mmmmm east coast food. Also GO BEARS! Sorry for the long photo post, I think by now you know i am a visual kind of gal and i also keep them low res enough it should still be ok.
I’m trying to knit and i am crocheting two secret projects, make that three. But I will be busy on the 1960’s Singer again very soon. The Self School Craif Fair is coming up really soon. I hope you like the new banners up above, if you have any issues in your browser try REFRESH it usually works. I’ve also deleted the Perfect Pie Blog. That whole incident with the mohair and then my reduex with a cotton/tencel blend was just bad karma. The whole thing never turned out in my favor. Animal was put to rest awhile back, straight to the trash can because you cannot rip out 20 rows of mohair. I joined Socktoberfest and will spend some time STARING at some sock yarn longingly this week because i will be on the sewing machine. Maybe i’ll feel my sock needles for fun too. More tomorrow.

great pics, j! i grew up in philly until i was 14 and haven’t been back in AGES - so glad you had fun (including the yarn shop torture). just wait until the day he hands you money to go to the lys just so that he won’t have to tag along. ;-)
p.s. my secret word was husband15… is there something you’re not saying?

Sounds like a fab trip - I do so love me some John Mellencamp....
How nice to see Nat with a smile - and his gramma just rocks! (and just what kind of skin cream was it that she uses??? )
Philly sounds like a great destination - and who knew about the whole “no sales tax on yarn” thing???
- Next entry: I offer you something a little DIFFERENT (visually) for fall

Ohhh, Philly! I grew up in that area. Mmmm, cheesteaks. They’re just a memory for me now. I can’t eat them--they’re too much for me. But pretzels on the side of the highway--oh yeah!
Aww, Nate smiles for his grandma.
