The Universe is trying to tell Jen something

Comments (36)

friday nite it was rainy here and i had not a good feeling the whole way to nat’s. Cars were driving in the middle of two lanes and people must not have been able to see very well. So while coming around the severe curve of the Museum of Science and Industry a cab was blocking my lane and 1/2 in an intersection. By the time i realized i was going to slam into him it was too late. I had at least been able to throw all my weight on my steering wheel and try to get my car in the direction of the cab rather than try to swerve around him by going into the other lane. So i avoided people from hitting me from the left and behind. This resulted in some smashed headlights and me just being very freaked out. I drive an old old beast of a car, and i am really sort of thankful for her metal around me..and peeling paint.

As you can see i took out a red cab.

So my weekend continues. I was told by 911 friday nite TWICE, that i could go to ANY police station to make a report and that i had 48 hours to do it in. So Nat and I head to Belmont and Western to the police station. Where i was berated, yelled at, and lastly IGNORED by the police officer. Also was yelled at for not going to a police station by the museum. By the end when he had to give instructions on what to do with the report he ignored me and spoke only to Nat who was standing beside me. This all stemmed from me only having the information 911 told me to get from the cab driver. So when he’d ask me for information i didn’t have i’d say “no i only have this” pointing to the paper or “i only have what 911 told me to get fromt he other driver” and he’d yell very loudly at me YES MAME YOU TOLD ME THAT FIVE TIMES NOW. And when i elevated my voice at him he told me not to speak to him like he was my son??????? This whole experice was *so* bad even Nathaniel wanted to get the hell out of there. Once we left i cried for a good 2 hours. I just couldn’t stop. It was awful. The one redeeming thing on saturday we going downtown to meet:

Stacey from Sheep in the City. SHe was visiting for the weekend. Look she had her bag with a blankie stuffed inside. Sorry i didn’t take so many pictures i just enjoyed talking to her for the short time we had. My day had been *that* bad. We both have orange glasses!

We even saw this woman, decked out in designer sweatsuit and UGG boots and tiny little dog shopping in Nordstroms????

So i go home take a nice hot bath and go to bed early. I wake up and tell Nat..i hope the universe will be kinder to me today. COULDN’T BE MORE WRONG.

We come back from brunch drive past my car (which is parked directly in front of nat’s apt building) and my WHOLE driver’s side window is smashed. Nat just stops the car in disbelief and i just start to cry.

Nat found the broken bottle of beer in the passenger side of the car

someone decided to throw a bottle of beer at my window for fun.Thanks. Thanks a lot.

So tomorrow i wake up in fear of now what? Sorry there will not be an etsy update today, possibly some tomorrow but i’m not sure. The universe was trying to take me out or something all weekend. There was no sewing. :(
And even Nat tried to cheer me up with going to Tea Geschwender I felt really sad when i said not even that would cheer me up this weekend.

Wow, that really does suck!  I can’t imagine being in an accident and then having the cops yell at you.  : (
This weeks gotta get better, hang in there!
At least you had a bright spot, and got to see Miss Sheep in the City.
Hugs!
Goats send hugs!

ps.
Just realized this is the 2 year anniv. of the worst car accident I was ever in.  Maybe Oct 28 is just a good day to stay away from cars.

Oh, I am so very sorry.  What an awful weekend experience.  As I read, I felt sadder and sadder for you (cause I’ve been there at various times too.) Just take things moment to moment.  It will pass!
Cyberhugs

HUGS! poor you honey thats just utter pants :( BUT try to think of it as you have got a fair amount of crappy luck out right there in those two days and you are now due SO many good things to make up for it xxxx

We had a car years ago that I had an accident in and had very similar happen, it was bashed and then we had the tires slashed, I think these little creeps that do this stuff see a damaged car and just think easy target....I hate people who think they have the right to just cause damage for the sheer hell of it GRRRR

oh and I think now is a good time to munch that choc I sent ;)

OH MY GOD NO. Maybe there was a reason that I stayed at home in my pj’s all weekend. Did you get your window fixed? I know a cheap place if not....

This week’ll have to be better. One of my friends who is a HARDCORE academic was even making jokes about mercury being in retrograde; which not even she believes in, so pretty much everyone will be glad to see the back of this month. bleah.

Oh honey - this does sound like some spectacularly crappy automotive karma this weekend… Here’s hoping that things seriously improve - and quickly!

Glad your meeting with Stacey was fun - nice that the whole weekend wasn’t sucktacular…

*hugs* Osiris sends fishy kisses. It does seem to have been a bit of a cursed weekend. One of my co-workers lost his finger in a saw-related accident.

I hope you got the name and badge number of that cop. He deserves a serious smack-down by his superiors.

Now, I hope your week is much better!

14. Lindsey left this comment on 10/29  at  09:37 AM:

Oh my goodness! I’m so sorry you’ve had a rotten past few days. I am glad that you are (physically) alright, though! I’m sure that things will be better soon!!

Oh man!  Your car was not having a good weekend at all!  I am glad you weren’t hurt in the accident.  The impact of the cars hitting can be really terrifying!  I just might have to make some soft pretzels to cheer you up!  Maybe for the potluck (if you can make it)!

16. Chelsea left this comment on 10/29  at  10:14 AM:

How awful!  I am so sorry you had to deal with all that in one weekend.  Let Nat cheer you up.  I would give you a hug and some cookies if I could.

17. tinkerwiththis left this comment on 10/29  at  11:40 AM:

so what exactly did you say to the universe that got it in such a crap mood? good luck with all the car stuff. crying is good though. if you get it out now, then the next time the universe pees on you, you can just laugh and say, “that’s all you’ve got universe?”.

18. Terrie left this comment on 10/29  at  11:52 AM:

Oh no! What an awful weekend :( I’m so sorry! That cop sounds like a total jerk!

I’m just glad you’re ok, and at least you got to have a little fun meeting Stacey!

I hope you have an AWESOME week (month, year, etc!!)

Oh Jen!!!  I am SO sorry that you had such a horrible car weekend!  Glad that you are safe and unharmed.  {{{Hugs}}}

21. Jennifer left this comment on 10/29  at  06:40 PM:

Oh, Jen, that’s just terrible!  And I can’t believe the cop treated you so terribly--and had the nerve to talk to Nat instead of you! (no offense to Nat).  At least nobody was injured, but your poor faithful car!  Hopefully this week will turn out better for you.

22. Lesa left this comment on 10/29  at  07:49 PM:

The universe can’t have you.  I need you too much.  Kayt and Erin need you.  Nat, Zander, Wendy, and your mom and dad need you.

So, the universe may ‘TRY’ and take you out, but our protection is there.  You may be shaken, but you are not stirred.

23. Suzanne left this comment on 10/29  at  08:19 PM:

Sorry you had such a craptastic weekend, but just think, you could have been recuperating from the stomach flu like I was - YUCK!!

I hope you week is better than the weekend.

24. erin left this comment on 10/30  at  08:13 AM:

25. alyson left this comment on 10/30  at  08:48 AM:

ARGH!!!  ARGH!!!!!  That blows!  I’m so sorry - yuck, that’s a lot of stupid crap to deal with all at once.  Hug?  Chocolate?  Chocolate hug??
