GOT IT!
for those of you who are like me and are S L O W with new things like this turkish cast on....i finally got it. here’s what i can add to kat’s instructions…
after you slide the circular all the way to the right then turn it after you turn it and are ready to knit the live8 stitches..undo your SLIP KNOT off the dpn and undo it
then knit the 8. place your marker and join.
also for some reason when i got to the pattern i got messed up with the next to last stitch being a MAKE ONE then knitting the last stitch.
also if you get holes when you M1..when you lift your bar from between the stitches up and place it on the needle...it should LOOK LIKE A STITCH..if it lays the other way and you knit into the back you’ll get a hole. a friend taught me that trick and it’s always worked for me. cause when you put it up on your left needle you’re twisting it to cover the hole. if you don’t twist it you’ll see the hole.
so remember when you lift it up it should LAY ON THE LEFT NEEDLE LIKE A REAL STITCH (and look like all your other stitches) then knit into the back of it.
ok i have not gotten the first 4 rows done! yay. ok so if you get all fumbled up with this cast on just do it 100 times like me and eventually it will work. i promise. :D

Thanks, everyone, for the tips! I managed to cast on without any trouble. But I ran into trouble very quickly with my counting because I don’t pay attention, so I’m starting over.

okay. I think I got all my stitches cast on. 4 on one dpn, 4 on another dpn, and 8 on the third right? Now what? Where do I place the marker and what do I join? I think I ‘m too much of abeginner for this! Yikes!

Yay! I think I got it! Doing the happy dance! Okay, better not celebrate too early (I just finished the k1, m1, k6, k1 round. Ha! Ha! Even tho this is taking so long to figure out I’m just thrilled!

Ahh...yes! I totally forgot the say that :) I didn’t even use a slip knot after the fourth time I cast on cause I figured out I didn’t need it. I kept ending up with an extra stitch and couldn’t firuge out why! And as for the increase thing, I tried to loop it so it looks like my other stitches, but the inc1 just works better for me, and it looks OK too. I’m almost at the heel of my first slipper! YAY!
