I finished one, sort of. I just can’t get the hang of crochet! And I don’t know how to crochet the sad, lumpy strap to the slipper. Is there any hope? Any helpful advice would be much appreciated. Thank you!

Hi Jen!
No problem. I’m still shocked when I get something right on posting this blog stuff! I haven’t posted in a while but will be posting soon! Should have some stuff up by this weekend. Hope your holiday season is going merrily!

i’m not officially a joiner (though i’d be happy to) but i need some help with this pattern…
i actually had no problems with the cast on (thanks to the tutorial found here) but i’m having trouble with almost everything else. i think it’s just good ole beginner’s lack of confidence…am i reading the pattern right that when you get to the part that says ‘shape insole’ you just basically ignore the top of the slipper and knit back and forth on the bottom of the slipper for a while? it seems like it’s getting too skinny and like it’s not going to come together but maybe it will surprise me. good thing i like learning new thinks and don’t mind unravelling because that’s what i see happening tonight. (despite my lovely cast on) :)

thanks so much to all of you who emailed or posted to my blog to help me out. last night i told my husband, ‘i guess this is going to have to be the first pattern i just put away because i just don’t get it for right now. i’ll come back to it later.’ and i meant it! then i went to bed and was laying there reading a hefty novel and it all just plopped into my head in one big chunk, what you all were telling me… what i was doing wrong… everything… i was supposed to be knitting back and forth in a c-shape!!! i was leaving the front needle unworked!! no wonder it wasn’t making sense! i put my book down and cast back on, just to show myself i hadn’t given up.
thanks so much. i’ll cast pictures to my blog later of the pitiful ‘slipper’ i’d been working on, as well as this one later.
did i mention this is my first time using dpn’s? i’ll blame it on that? :) and to answer the question about whether i’ve knit socks… yes but the toe up on two circs variety… so not really much help here…

yay! slipper #1 is all finished, except for the strap! i’m so proud of myself and i learned soooo many new things. i’m so glad i stuck with it instead of going with the simpler pattern i already knew. thanks, everyone who helped me out.

Looking loverly! I finished a pair this morning - had to go out to the knittinghelp.com site and do the kitchener while watching their video but I finally got it right! And I was able to do the cast on for the second one only once and have it look right. So awesome. But I can’t show pics on my blog just yet because they’re a gift and the recipient reads my blog. =( Take my word for it, they’re fabulous. I did get it work out so I could use two strands of sock yarn - just had to use size 6 needles instead of 7s. I can’t wait to be able to show everyone!
